Advanced classes focus more on accuracy and precision shooting. Players are given certain circumstances to make shots in order for them to count as a “make” such as using the backboard or making a shot without touching the rim. Each player’s shooting form is critiqued. Players in these classes take many shot attempts in order to work on muscle memory.

DEFENSE

Beginner classes focus on basic defensive principles such as defensive slides, playing defense without fouling, and the fundamentals of man to man defense

Beginner classes focus on the basic chest, bounce, and overhead pass. Players learn proper technique to complete these passes against a defender.

Aside from man to man defense, advanced classes teach proper positioning/rules for zone defense. Players also learn how to effectively communicate, relocate and recover, play proper help defense, etc.

PASSING

BALL HANDLING

Advanced players learn at an upbeat pace focusing on ambidexterity with multiple dribble combinations, reading and reacting to the defense, tennis ball work, pound dribbling, along with a list of other skills.


REBOUNDING

Beginner classes focus on the basic mechanics of shooting. Players are taught proper hand placement, basic shooting form, shot fakes, etc. The goal is for them to be able to consistently demonstrate correct form and make shots at a comfortable range.


All players will learn the importance of rebounding, a forgotten art in modern day basketball. There will be an emphasis on positioning, verbal cues, boxing out, and correctly anticipating where the ball will be.

Players at all levels will learn the importance of footwork. There will be an emphasis on balance, agility, and foot speed/quickness. They will also participate in drills to improve their execution of the pivot and reverse pivot, changing direction, etc.

Advanced classes focus on making basic passes in game-like situations. Players also learn higher level passes such as the full court baseball pass, behind the back pass, etc.

SHOOTING

Beginners learn the basic fundamentals of dribbling such as protecting the ball, ambidexterity, the basic crossover, dribbling between their legs, etc. These skills and many others are taught at a level of understanding for players who are fairly new to the game of basketball.
